Who is my advisor and how do I contact them?
- For all College of Natural and Mathematical Sciences majors: email CNMSAdvising@umbc.edu or follow the instructions on their C-N-M-S advising website
- For all College of Engineering and Information Technology majors: email COEITAdvising@umbc.edu or follow the instructions on their C-O-E-I-T advising website.
- For all majors in College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences/Social Work/Erikson School: Find your major on this list and follow the instructions provided.

I need help with time management.
Academic Skills Meetings can be scheduled through the Academic Success Center for all undergraduate students at UMBC. Academic Skills Meetings are a one-to-one meeting with a trained peer to help you build skills including:

I need to change my major.
- As you consider which major is the best fit for you, the Office for Academic and Pre-Professional Advising is ready to offer support, including their calendar where you can schedule an appointment . The academic advisors in this office are committed to helping you explore degree options and evaluate general education, gateway, and major requirements. This office welcomes all students needing major exploration assistance and works with them until an appropriate new academic plan is secured.
- There are also many ways to explore potential majors on your own and maybe even create your own major through the Individualized Study Program. Some of the most popular and practical methods to exploring potential majors are shared on the Individualized Study Program website.
- If you already have a new major in mind you can reach out to an academic advisor from that department for assistance and help with selecting courses.
Once you have met with an academic advisor from one of the offices noted above and/or selected a new major you must fill out and submit a Declaration of Major Form to the Registrar’s Office or, if advisor approval is required, an you can contact an academic advisor from your new major.
