What is an Academic Peer Advocacy Meeting?

The Academic Peer Advocacy Program pairs all undergraduate students in their first and second years, with trained and compassionate peers dedicated to supporting their transition to college. The Academic Peer Advocates’ (APAs) mission is to empower their peers to take advantage of the appropriate campus resources and to confidently seek help when needed. APAs connect students to the First and Second Year Academic Advocates for coordinated care when there are complicated barriers to navigate.

Academic Peer Advocacy Meetings may cover the following topics:

  • Using Campus Resources
  • Adjusting to Life at UMBC
  • Making on Campus Connections

How do I schedule an Academic Peer Advocacy Meeting?

Academic Peer Advocacy Meetings will be offered by appointment only. Students may schedule an appointment up to 24 hours in advance using the links above. In-person or online appointments are available.
