Student Academic Success

Student success is a priority at UMBC. As we continue to pull together as a community to work through the uncertainty and challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, UMBC remains steadfast in our commitment to student academic success. Although the current circumstances, including the shift to an online learning environment, may present challenges, we are committed to delivering continuous academic support to ensure every student has the opportunity to complete the spring 2020 semester successfully.

Below you will find a list of academic success resources available to students with a link to each of their business continuity plans. We hope that this site will help students easily find the support needed to fully adjust to their new academic environment and focus on doing well in their coursework. Ultimately, we aim to remove as many barriers as possible.

While the University takes every effort to ensure that students make consistent academic progress and complete their degrees in a timely fashion, individual circumstances may change and in some cases, students’ work on a degree may be interrupted. Should a student find themselves in a position when an interruption is necessary (i.e., course/term withdrawal) they should promptly review the information here and consult with an academic advisor and/or academic advocate for support. Such interruptions should only be considered by a student in exceptional circumstances to avoid delays in degree completion. Students should consider such interruptions carefully, as they may have academic and/or financial implications.

If you have a question that is not addressed here or are unable to find the resource that you were looking for, please contact the Academic Success Center at academicsuccess@umbc.edu and support will be provided.
